SPOŁECZNA AKADEMIA NAUK (University of Social Sciences) is one of the leading private universities in Poland having 16.000 students and over 800 academic staff. In the educational rankings, published by the influential national magazines our University is placed very high. There are 18 departments, including IT Studies, management, Educational Science, Psychology and Sociology that will contribute their experience to this project. SAN provides education on BA, MA and PhD studies on computer science.Within our Educational Science department we train teachers of different types with a special focus on preschool and early school level of education. As an educational organization University of Social Sciences promotes multidisciplinary approach, bringing together researchers from a diversity of backgrounds (economics, humanities, artistic, educational science, etc.). Our University has potential to provide support (according to specific roles and tasks assigned within the consortium) to project’s activities having an immense expertise and experienced staff in respective field. We collaborate closely also with wide range of educational organisations (eg. Ośrodek Nowoczesnych Technologii Informacyjnych Łódzkiego Centrum Doskonalenia Nauczycieli i Kształcenia Praktycznego), associations and foundations as well as local and national Authorities. University co-operates also with wide range of primary and secondary schools the local city council, authorities of Lodz Province, provincial and administrative units and other educational institutions. Within our post-graduate studies of Socio-therapy, we collaborate also with specialists working with children in kindergartens and day-rooms. Our University has an IT Institute which is involved in designing of IT systems. The Institute provides several study specializations, eg. IT in Management or IT in Social Works. Apart from main activity the University is a significant institution of persistent adult education (LLL) offering different courses for adults. We have been involved in several projects about ICT. For example LdV project“e-Trainers – Training for Trainers on e-Learning”,Leonardo Multilateral project called “eLearning for eGovernment”. We finished an EU Leonardo project “Developing a new elearning and e-mentoring solution for small and medium sized enterprises in the European Information Technology sector in order to develop their European Business Culture”. We have been involved in LLP project “ICT-Go-Girls! Promoting Entrepreneurship among Secondary School Girls through ICT” as a partner. Right now are contribute our IT experience to “Gamified Training for Successful Commercialization of Young SMEs’ Innovation” Erasmus+ international project. Our University has experience in developing educational materials for schools & pre-schools. For example we run projects: “Teaching Learning To Learn Virtual Trainer”, “Web based PBL training to improve headmasters skills and promote an ‘innovative school” and “Stronger children – less violence 2” aiming to prevent violence at kindergarten and schools. Apart from providing support for schools we care also about parents’ side by providing them with educational materials. Examples are Grundtvig projects “Teach Parents Emotional Intelligence” or “PID – Parents with Intellectual Disabilities” that were successfully run by our University. Thanks to our Polish Open Academy see: http://pao.pl/ we also offer study programmes and extension courses via the Internet. Our task is to provide traditional lectures and training as well as promoting modern teaching methods. We are a competence centre for methodology, technology and organization of eLearning.
